About the Program

The National Health Support Program (NHSP) is a high-priority government initiative designed to support provinces in delivering quality, equitable, and sustainable primary health care (PHC) services.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the NHSP aims to accelerate ongoing health sector reforms and service delivery improvements through a structured, results-oriented approach combining financial incentives, system strengthening, and targeted technical assistance.

Strengthen PHC Delivery

Strengthen equitable delivery and quality of essential health services at the primary health care (PHC) level to accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Access for Vulnerable Populations

Improve access to and coverage of quality essential health services, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations, through strengthened PHC delivery.

Enhance Service Quality

Build capacity of health managers and frontline providers, institutionalizing quality improvement mechanisms, and promoting client-centered care.

Digital Governance

Strengthen governance, stewardship, and accountability through the use of digital health systems, performance measurement tools, and improved institutional capacities.

Health Financing Reforms

Support health financing reforms and improved Public Financial Management (PFM) to ensure more efficient, transparent, and equitable resource utilization.

Technical Assistance

Provide direct technical assistance to the Department of Health (DoH) for cross-cutting PHC system reforms and third-party support to achieve DLIs.
